Wherever You Go, I’ll Go: Honoring Trailblazing Women through the Story of Ruth

This year on sundown of Thursday, May 28th, the Jewish Holiday of Shavuot will start and millions will celebrate and commemorate the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai (yes, Moses and the Ten Commandments), the beginning of the summer harvest season and the tradition of eating cheesecake and cheese blintzes.

Today marks the start of the Jewish Holiday of Shavuot during which we read the Book of Ruth, Ruth is known as one of the first Jews-by-choice. In her story, Ruth teaches us about the power of courage as she pursues her dreams while demanding acceptance and dignity from her community.

To celebrate Shavuot, A Wider Bridge is highlighting the stories of trailblazing women, that just like Ruth, embody strength and resilience in the journey towards LGBTQ inclusion. We’ll be adding inspiring stories leading up to Shavuot. This is a story of inclusion, acts of loving-kindness, and doing the right thing. Click on the photos below to read these inspiring stories!
