Adventures of a lesbian-feminist-rabbi-mom in the Judean Hills —
With all of Israel’s progress on LGBT rights, out LGBT rabbis are still rare there, making our evening with Rabbi Gail Diamond, Associate Director of the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem, a unique opportunity. Rabbi Gail Diamond talked about her experiences moving to and living in Israel. Gail and her partner are a bi-national couple who left the US in 2000 after exhausting all legal options to stay together here. Building a new life in Israel they have dealt with becoming parents through the Israeli medical system, second parent adoption through the Israeli courts, receiving recognition as a family from the ministry of housing, and being lesbian parents in suburban Jerusalem, encompassing the range of bureaucratic and personal challenges possible!
