The event will take place at Slate, 54 W 21st St, New York, NY 10010
On Thursday, May 15, Yuval Raphael will take the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest, one of the world’s most renowned musical stages. Representing Israel with “New Day Will Rise,” sung in English, Hebrew, and French, Raphael sends a message of hope, peace, and resilience.
Despite facing challenges from countries like Iceland, Ireland, and Spain, which have called for Israel’s exclusion from the competition due to the ongoing Hamas war, the Israeli delegation remains determined to showcase a thought-provoking, meaningful, and moving performance that represents the country during these times.
According to the betting odds and following Yuval’s first rehearsal on stage, Israel, Austria, and Finland are tied for 1st place with a 93% chance of advancing to the final on Saturday, May 17.
Yuval Raphael from Ra’anana, grew up in the small town of Pedaya and spent part of her childhood in Geneva, Switzerland. Influenced by a wide range of artists—from classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin and the Scorpions to pop icons like Beyoncé and Celine Dion—she began her professional singing career in 2023. That same year, Raphael survived the Hamas attack on the Nova Sukkot Gathering music festival, where she endured shrapnel injuries and hid for eight hours under bodies in a shelter near kibbutz Be’eri. She was one of only 11 survivors from that shelter and later testified about the experience before the United Nations Human Rights Council.
