Seeking Senior Director of Programs and Strategy

A Wider Bridge is looking to fill a senior-level position for our new Senior Director of Programs and Strategy. The candidate should be a passionate, organized, strong communicator, motivated leader and change-maker.

The ideal candidate is committed to A Wider Bridge’s mission of building LGBTQ and allied support for Israel and LGBTQ Israelis, with experience in the LGBTQ, Jewish, and pro-Israel fields. We are seeking candidates for this senior management position who have a minimum of 8 years of experience in the non-profit sector, including past experience managing and developing teams and operationalizing, directing, and implementing organizational strategic plans. Candidates must be willing to travel across North America and to Israel for this position.

Responsibilities

  1. Management
    1. The Senior Director of Programs and Strategy will manage the programs, outreach, communications, and related administrative staff of A Wider Bridge as they implement Leadership Missions and related alumni work, public relations and communications work, building of community partnerships in the United States and Israel, local community engagement and education events, and related operations and administration.
    2. Ensure staff are properly trained, supported, and nurtured to excel in their roles. Create and sustain a positive and collaborative work environment to promote excellence, cooperation, and teamwork.
    3. Oversee and help staff achieve benchmarks and metrics; conduct formal and informal staff reviews and evaluations.
  2. Development and Implementation of Organizational Strategy and Programming
    1. In partnership with the Executive Director and Development Director, build and implement mid-range strategic priorities of A Wider Bridge in partnership with team members to:
      1. Develop and strengthen A Wider Bridge’s strategy advancing equality in Israel through annual grantmaking, visibility building, and public education and advocacy campaigns.
      2. Oversee A Wider Bridge leadership development initiatives – including Israel Missions for American LGBTQ leaders, US Missions for Israeli LGBTQ leaders, related alumni work for continuing engagement and education, and related community programming to engage new and diverse LGBTQ leaders and communities with AWB, Israel, and LGBTQ Israelis.
      3. Coordinate and implement community mobilizations with organizational leadership and stakeholders, Mission alumni, organizational partners, and press and media to advance “Equality in Israel” and/or “Equality for Israel.”
      4. Through strong online communications, branding, press relations, and short and long-term messaging strategy around the issues affecting our work, grow our visibility in the LGBTQ , Jewish, and pro-Israel communities.
      5. Identify new opportunities, community partnerships, and volunteer leadership to advance A Wider Bridge’s organizational footprint in the North American and Israeli LGBTQ, Jewish, and pro-Israel communities.
    2. Reporting and Measurement
      1. In partnership with the Development Director, develop reports on programmatic activities and progress on strategic plans.
      2. Develop and implement tracking capabilities, with the ability to measure systemic changes from our programming and leadership advancing “equality in Israel and equality for Israel.”
    3. Community Relations
      1. Identify opportunities and lead speaking engagements at local and national LGBTQ, Jewish, and pro-Israel organizations’ convenings and conferences.
      2. Represent A Wider Bridge at LGBTQ, Jewish, and pro-Israel functions, networking to build new relationships and to promote the organization’s work.

Skill Requirements
A Successful Candidate will:

  • Approach work in a self-motivated way without need for close supervision, and with effective time management.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep them moving forward in a timely manner.
  • Be well organized, with strong attention to detail, record-keeping, administrative tasks and follow-up on all aspects of a project.
  • Be comfortable working in a small organization, be a good team player and have a results-driven approach to work.
  • Have experience working with the communities and issues that are core to the work of A Wider Bridge: Jewish, LGBTQ and Pro-Israel. Knowledge of Israel a plus.
  • Be an effective networker and relationship builder, and demonstrate an ability to maintain organizational message, communicate with diplomacy and nuance and work successfully with people and organizations of varying viewpoints.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, both oral and written, one on one and in public settings.
  • Have the ability to develop and monitor a program budget.
  • Available to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Office Suite, Expensify, Slack, Mailchimp, Dropbox, and CRM systems, with ability to learn new programs.
  • Have at least a B.A. or B.S. from an accredited four-year college program.
