An old interview of Dana International on Ireland’s national TV has surfaced on the internet this week.
The interview took place in 1998, right after Dana had won the Eurovision Song Contest for Israel with the song “Diva”. In the interview she describes how the Knesset and the government treated her after her big win, and the reaction of Orthodox Jews to the fact that she’s a transgender.
Dana’s 1998 Eurovision win for Israel symbolizes a new era in the country, and a big change towards acceptance and inclusion of LGBT people.
