TLV Fest, Tel Aviv’s LGBT Film Festival, will be held for the 11th year at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque from May 29 to June 7, and will present dozens of films that made famous film festivals around the world – Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Toronto and Sundance. Among the guests expected to visit the Cinematheque is Alan Cumming, who’s mostly familiar for his role of Eli Gold in ‘The Good Wife’. In addition to his roles in film and television ( “X-Men 2”, “Eyes Wide Shut,” “Web Therapy,” “The L-Word”), Cumming is a Tony Award-winning actor for his role as the narrator in the musical “Cabaret”. Cumming played the memorable role on Broadway in the production in the nineties, and when the musical was remade again two years ago, it was clear that no one could step into his shoes, and he came back for another round in the role, co-starring with Sienna Miller, Michelle Williams and Emma Stone, among others.

During the ten-day festival, many films will be screened that are not planned for wide distribution in Israel, and the festival may be the only opportunity to see them on the big screen. During the festival a number of local competitions will be held- short screenplay competition, a pitching contest for documentaries and feature films and an Israeli short film competition.

“The world’s leading film magazine, Indiewire, chose us two years in a row as one of the ten leading LGBT film festivals,” said Yair Hochner, general manager and artistic director of the festival. “This is a title we’re definitely going to take care to preserve. The festival offers a rich program to the viewers and visitors with an aim to empower tolerance and pluralism in Israeli society.”
