A Wider Bridge Builds East Coast Presence

Out! For Israel to be Absorbed into Organization; Jayson Littman Named New York Area Director

A Wider Bridge announced today that “Out! For Israel”, a New York City based LGBT Israel advocacy group, would be absorbed into its operations effective immediately. Jayson Littman, founder of Out! For Israel, will now serve as the New York Area Director for A Wider Bridge.

A Wider Bridge is a San Francisco based non-profit organization started in 2010 that creates pathways for LGBT Jews and allies in the U.S. to develop meaningful relationships with Israel, and brings the LGBT communities of Israel and North America closer together. Among its activities, A Wider Bridge brings Israeli LGBT leaders, activists and artists to the U.S. to talk about their work, creates opportunities for LGBT people and allies to experience Israel first hand through LGBT trips to Israel, produces Israeli LGBT programming for college campuses and runs an online daily magazine at www.awiderbridge.com.

“We are extremely excited about this merger with the former ‘Out! For Israel’ and its impact on the future growth and development of A Wider Bridge,” said Arthur Slepian, Executive Director of A Wider Bridge. “It gives us a huge opportunity to build a strong presence in New York and on the East Coast, and expand our work to bring LGBT Jews in the U.S. and Israel closer together.” We are particularly pleased to have Jayson Littman be the first New Yorker to join the staff of A Wider Bridge.  Jayson has written extensively about Israel from an LGBT perspective, led Birthright trips to Israel, and is a respected leader in New York’s LGBT community.”

Jayson Littman added, “I’m thrilled to further grow and develop A Wider Bridge in New York and on the rest of the East Coast. I look forward to bringing my passion for Israel advocacy to this work of strengthening relationships between the LGBT communities in Israel and the U.S.”
A Wider Bridge will hold its first major event in New York City in 2013 on Sunday, March 17 at the NYC LGBT Center at 6 PM. The program includes a screening of the Israeli documentary “Gay Days,” followed by a discussion with the leaders of two of Israel’s most prominent LGBT organizations, Avner Dafni, Executive Director of Israel Gay Youth and Irit Zviely-Efrat, CEO of Hoshen (Education and Change.) Through his involvement in both the gay and Jewish communities, Jayson has worked to bridge the identity of gay Jewish life in New York City and has led and organized LGBT Taglit‐Birthright trips. A public speaker and writer on gay Jewish topics, Jayson writes for the Huffington Post, Queerty and other publications on topics pertaining to the gay Jewish community.
