AWB’s 2019 Pride Leadership Mission to Israel

A Wider Bridge’s LGBTQ Pride Leadership Mission to Israel has just wrapped up! Thirty LGBTQ community leaders and influencers joined A Wider Bridge staff on a 9-day mission to Israel to experience the country through an LGBTQ lens.

Some highlights!

On this first day, we visited Gan Meir and the Tel Aviv LGBTQ Center.

At the Tel Aviv LGBTQ Center, we heard from leaders in Israel’s LGBTQ Community, including Chen Arieli (pictured) former Chair of the Aguda Israel LGBTQ Taskforce and current Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor.

Tamar Yahel, CEO of Hoshen, the Israeli LGBT Education organization, speaks to a breakout group about her organization and LGBTQ rights in Israel.

The group learned more about Israel’s democratic tradition with a visit to the Supreme Court in Jerusalem.

Liel Messele (left) spoke about her life as an Ethiopian Israeli and her work with KALA, the Ethiopian-Israeli LGBTQ organization. Pictured with Mission Attendee Octavia Lewis.

In Israel’s north, the group met with members of the Druze Israeli community.
