This Week’s New Music

Three LGBT artists released new singles to the radio in Israel this week. Here’s a quick look at (and support for)  the latest music from Israel. Good luck, guys!

Harel Skaat: Boom

Harel Skaat releases the second single from his new album. The first song, the energetic “Achshav”, became a number one hit on the radio. This one, an emotional ballad titled “Boom”, will hopefully follow.

“Boom / There’s no such thing as an easy hit / Inhibitions were unleased from my feet / A long way to go / And even if I tear up / I’ll guard myself / I’ll say with a smile / That I know with all of my heart / that how much I wanted / reality wanted for me the opposite…”

Henree Feat and Nikka: Addicted to You

Another single from the pop-dance duo Henree and Nikka. Producer Henree brings the beats to yet another catchy pop/dance anthem with a touch of the Mediterranean. Not only did Henree write and produce the song, he also directed the music video that was shot in the south of Israel. Transgender singer Nikka was recently snubbed from the first season of the X-Factor Israel, but looks like she doesn’t need a reality music show to make it big.

Dudi Sharon Feat. Jouel: Vaatem Rokdim

Transgender singer Jouel makes a club interpretation of an old Israeli-folk song “Vaatem Rokdim” (‘And You Are Dancing’).  Jouel recently teamed up with producer Dudi Sharon, and they are apparently doing really well in Mexico, after winning Best Dance Act at the GDL Mexico competition. The duo also performed in Greece and Turkey recently with their English repertoire.

“Va’atem Rokdim” was first released in Israel in 1977 by singer/songwriter/radio host Dori Ben Ze’ev. In 1992 pop-folk group Portrait released a cover version of the song that turned out to be a mega hit on Israeli radio (and at Israeli weddings!)
