Openly gay Rabbi Rachel Isaacs of the Beth Israel congregation in Waterville, Maine talks about this week’s torah portion in a video made for the Jewish Journal.
Rabbi Isaacs was the first openly gay Rabbi to be ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary. Prior to the JTS, Isaacs earned her B.A. from Wellesley College in 2005, where she was the Hillel Co-President. Rabbi Isaacs, a former Wexner Fellow, has also studied in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In addition to her rabbinical duties, she currently serves as Jewish Chaplain at Colby College, where she teaches Hebrew and Jewish theology on campus.
