Twenty doctors from a variety of medical fields attended the launching of a new Israeli LGBT Medical association – a branch of the national Israeli Medical Association.
The union will coordinate the knowledge and research on health issues related to the LGBT community and will work to eradicate LGBTphobia in the health system in Israel.
“In the past year we have decided to fulfill an old dream and establish the Israeli LGBT Medical association,” announced Klalit Gan Meir clinic, which includes many community members among its patients on Facebook.
In the launch meeting on Sunday, twenty physicians in various fields of medicine attended: internal medicine, family medicine, urology, gynecology and others. In addition, Chen Milo, an attorney from the Israeli Medical Association and Imri Kalman, the Aguda co-chair, also attended.
“We conducted an important preliminary discussion on the association’s rules and goals,” wrote Gan Meir Klalit Clinic, “and we will continue to update as we go through the launching process.”
