Michael K. Lavers

2016 A Wider Bridge Leadership Mission alumnus

Michael K. Lavers is the international news editor of the Washington Blade. The passage of same-sex marriage laws in Maryland and Delaware, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the burgeoning LGBT rights movement in Latin America and the consecration of gay New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson are among the many stories on which he has reported since his career began in 2002. Laver’s work has appeared in the Huffington Post, the Village Voice, Fire Island News and other media outlets. Michael has also discussed LGBT-specific issues on the BBC, New York Times, News Channel 8 in D.C., WNYC in New York City other mainstream and LGBT publications. Michael K. Lavers holds a degree in journalism and Spanish from the University of New Hampshire.
