Miss Trans Israel, Elian Nesiel, won 2nd runner up in the Miss Trans Star International competition in Barcelona. The winner is Miss Thailand.
The Miss Trans Star International Pageant took place in two parts, the first part on Thursday, October 5, while the second and decisive part was held Sunday night. Miss Trans Israel, Elian Nesiel, 20, who was one of the favorites to win, ended up in the top three. A large part of the activities planned for the contestants, such as a tour of the city and a photoshoot in a nature reserve, were canceled due to the riots in Barcelona following the independence referendum held earlier this week.
“Thank you, everyone, I had an amazing experience,” Elian wrote on Facebook following the competition. “I’m grateful for waking up in the morning, everything else is a bonus! Thank you to the amazing people who walked with me every step of the way. To the queen Kim Levi, to Mor Vital you are the greatest, to the mega-designer Eli Shitrit for all the amazing dresses, May Lee for the fabulous hair and makeup. Love you loads, now I’m coming back to Israel!”
At the beginning of the week, Nesiel told Israeli website 360/nrg that there were police officers at every major intersection in the vicinity of the hotel where candidates stayed, and roadblocks were put up. The Israeli representative also wished to thank the Israeli people for the support she has received and wished a happy Sukkot to all of Israel.
Nesiel grew up in a traditional religious home, but she takes pride in her family, which, despite being religious, accepted her from the beginning. “I came out of the closet at the age of 13, and it was then when I started the transition, the hormonal treatments,” Nesiel said in July after she was crowned Miss Trans Israel. “Even though I came out at an early age, my family supported and hugged me, which is a very important matter at such a young age. They also encouraged me to enter the competition and fulfill my dreams.”
Israel has participated in the Miss Trans Star International Pageant since 2016. Taalin Abu Hanna, the first Miss Trans Israel, won first runner up in the competition, became a celebrity in Israel and embarked on a successful international modeling career.
