November 2011 —

Israel’s Big Brother co-host Assi Azar was selected by “Out” magazine as one of the world’s 100 most influential LGBT people in 2009. With his career already underway he came out as a gay man in 2005, and has used his visibility to speak out for the LGBT community, particularly following the double murder at a Tel Aviv gay youth center in 2009. He was featured in the recent film “Mom and Dad: I Have Something to Tell You,” which tells the story of his and others’ coming out, and aired nationally on Israeli television.

In November, 2011, Assi Azar presented his film and shared his story at American University, Stanford, San Francisco State University and the Opera Plaza Theater in San Francisco with the help of A Wider Bridge.
